The Echo of Lilith, Hatred Incarnate/Mother of Mankind is one of the powerful boss monsters that you can summon in any of the Torment difficulty levels. Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred - Artificer's Realm Tier 20 - The Pit Torment 1 |
With season 6 and Vessel of Hatred a new way to reach higher difficulty levels was introduced. You no longer have to beat capstone dungeons to reach higher difficulty levels. The levels also became new names and now align more with what we know from Diablo 3.
To reach Torment 1 and beyond difficulty levels, you now have to beat a new dungeon: "The Pit of the Artificers" or also called "Artificer's Realm - The Pit".
Not only that, but the Pit also let's you upgrade your Glyphs, so it is a very important dungeon.
Completing a tier with lots of time to spare can unlock up to +5 tiers for you to run next. If you finish a run with 4-6 minutes left, you skip two level and unlock an additional tier. Additionally, if you defeat the boss with 6+ minutes left on the timer, two additional Tiers will unlock.
Beating Tier 20 makes the Torment 1 difficulty available, 35 Torment 2, 50 Torment 3 and 65 Torment 4.
This video here shows a Tier 20 run, where I successfully finish and become eligible to access Torment 2 afterwards. |

Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred - Dark Citadel - Dominion of Zagraal Dungeon |
The Dominion of Zagraal is the last of three wings in the Dark Citadel, the new area for high-end content. These dungeons are quite challanging, especially the boss fights. The bosses involve various strategies the players have to follow. These dungeons cannot be completed alone - you need to have at least two players, although four are recommended.
The Dominion of Zagraal uses Soul Siphons, where you have to stay near them in order to charge them. And there are now Spell Guardians, which have to be defeated. They drop a Counterspell which needs to be used to reflect Soul Orbs back to where they came from.
The same mechanics are applied to the boss (Zagraal, the Eternal). Soul Siphons have to be charged and then the Ritual Sigils need to be dispelled by using the correct Sigil with the correct Ritual. Then Zagraal starts shooting out Soul Orbs. You have to defeat a Spell Guardian, grab his Counterspell and shoot the orb back to Zagraal. Then you are brought to the Realm of Oblivion where you can do damage against him. Then you have to activate the Conduit by standing on the plates near it to get back, slay countless enemies to activate the Soul Siphons. Repeat until he is defeated. :) |

Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred - Dark Citadel - Labyrinth of Souls Dungeon |
The Labyrinth of Souls is one of three wings of the Dark Citadel, the new area for high-end content. These dungeons are quite challanging, especially the boss fights. The bosses involve various strategies the players have to follow. These dungeons cannot be completed alone - you need to have at least two players, although four are recommended.
The Labyrinth of Souls uses lots of barriers and portals. The barriers can be removed by standing on the nearby platforms or by defeating Barrier Guardians.
The same mechanics are applied to the boss (Lorzuul, the Gorger). Barriers need to be removed by defeating the Barrier Guardians. There you can obtains Sigils of Bindings and Ward Stones which need to be used at the Soulbound Pedestrals. Meanwhile one player has to stick to Lorzuul and defeat the Aimless Souls to avoid Lorzuul powering himself up. |

Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred - Dark Citadel - Enclave of Strife Dungeon |
The Enclave of Strife is one of three wings of the Dark Citadel, the new area for high-end content. These dungeons are quite challanging, especially the boss fights. The bosses involve various strategies the players have to follow. These dungeons cannot be completed alone - you need to have at least two players, although four are recommended.
The Enclave of Strife has a gateway teleporting feature. The boss (Gorschak) becomes invulnerable after losing a certain amount of health. Then Realm Guardians spawn. These need to be defeated and then the group has to stand on the gateway platform to activate it. At least one player has to use the gateway, defeat the Ward Guardians there and obtain their Ward Stones. These have to be inserted into the Sealin Wards, which then spawns of Fragmented Soul of Gorschak. After defeating it, pick up the Soul Essence. Then the group on the other side has to reopen the gateway again. The players, who moved through the gateway, can then return, insert the Soul Essence and put it into the Conduit of Souls.
This has to be repeated until Gorschak has been defeated. As you can see in the video, my group (a random group put together by the party finder) has been struggling quite a lot with this. But in the end we managed to beat him. |

Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred - Ancient Nexus Stronghold |
The Ancient Nexus is one of the three new strongholds in Nahantu that were added with the Vessel of Hatred addon. The Ancient Nexus also needs to be conquered - as all other strongholds. But this is done in a matter of minutes and poses no real challange. The Ancient Nexus is a new hub that is used to enter the Dark Citadel dungeons - three dungeons that are meant for endgame players. They can also be completed in a group of at least two players (four are recommended though) and prove to be quite challenging. Especially the bosses have new mechanics that require the players to work together. EG some players go through a portal and do some stuff there and the players who stayed behind have to reopen the portal when the players, who went trhough, have finished. There currently is a community challange running. The more players finish the Dark Citadel, the more rewards everyone will get. So hop in! |

Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred - Chakhir Stronghold |
Chakhir is one of the three new strongholds in Nahantu that were added with the Vessel of Hatred addon.
And I must say: The strongholds are way more difficult than in the base game. Especially the boss fights are challenging. In a group the fights are probably a lot easier, but I tried to beat them solo. After dieing several times during the boss fight I got lucky and the boss bugged out and didn't do anything anymore.
The boss fight actually is fighting two bosses - the brothers Skerg und Sinerat. If you defeat one of them, the other one is completely healed and can then deal both poison and fire damage. I tried to finish them off at the same time, but unfortunately didn't manage to do that. |

It seems that they're partially successful. They managed to delay the return of Mephisto, but nothing more.

Diablo IV - Sunken Library Dungeon |
Sunken Library is one of the dungeons/instances you can visit in Diablo IV. Once you enter a dungeon you're either alone or together with your other party members. So these are not part of the open world. In the dungeons I've seen so far you'll usually have to activate a couple of things to make the boss spawn or to open the doors leading to the boss or an event. Or you have to kill a couple of different things like Blood Boils.
The interesting bit about the dungeons is that you of course get loot, but you'll also gain access to new 'Aspects'. Aspects can be imprinted onto equipment. However the aspects are sometimes for a specific class and sometimes usuable by all classes. Diablo IV - Sarat's Lair Dungeon |
Sarat's Lair is one of the dungeons/instances you can visit in Diablo IV. Once you enter a dungeon you're either alone or together with your other party members. So these are not part of the open world. In the dungeons I've seen so far you'll usually have to activate a couple of things to make the boss spawn or to open the doors leading to the boss.
The interesting bit about the dungeons is that you of course get loot, but you'll also gain access to new 'Aspects'. Aspects can be imprinted onto equipment. However the aspects are sometimes for a specific class and sometimes usuable by all classes. In Sarat's Lair you get the "Snowveiled Aspect" for the Sorcerer class, which boosts your Ice Armor skill. If you want to get aspects for your class you can check the available dungeons on the world map. There it tells you the class you'll get an aspect for after finishing the dungeon. |

Diablo IV Server Slam - World boss - Ashava the Pestilent |
Ashava the Pestilent is the only available world boss during the Diablo IV beta events and the server slam. And most likely also the first world boss players can encounter in the final game. The world boss only spawned at specific times. I assume this will also be the case in the final game. As you can see the fight was pretty tough and many players dies and respawned multiple times. But the fight was still an interesting one because Ashava attcks differently after losing more and more health.
There was one special condition during the Diablo IV server slam: The max level was 20 whereas Ashava is designed for level 25 characters, which made this fight even more challenging. |

Diablo IV - 1,5h Gameplay |
I recorded a lot of gameplay from the last Diablo IV Beta weekend and decided to put some of the parts together into one video. This shows roughly 1,5h of gameplay directly from the beginning of the game.
Unfortunatelly I did have some sound & video problems while recording, so they have been recorded as well. This gameplay material is from the Friday, 17th of March 2023. I encountered many problems including lag and runnerbanding on Friday. Most of the problems were gone on Saturday so I assume that Blizzard fixed these over the night to Saturday. |
