The Emperor was once an adventurer, but was turned inti an Illithid mind-flayer. It managed to get away from the control of other mind flayers, though. It struggles to keep it that way. And... it is also the one who helped the group to keep their minds to themselves. It appeared as the mystical Dream Visitor in their dreams. He is attacked by githyanki. You have to protect him in order to survive as well.
